I recently picked up a 90 ply. acclaim. it had a locked up drivers side caliber when I got it. I replaced that same day. now the passenger side is sticking. when you apply the brake it drags for a long time (does not lock up wheel) before releasing all the way. also the brake and anti-lock light on dash are coming on. any one have any ideas before I start poaring money into it?

Wow, anti-lock brakes on a 90??? Rebuilt calipers for regular non-anti lock
brakes are very inexpensive. Dunno about yours though, maybe it is worth
trying to save the right side. If so, then just make sure all the sludge is
cleaned out, especially around the guides and where the caliper slides on
the carrier.

well, I fixed it. it was a bit more than I thought.
it was the caliber sticking....and the master brake cylinder....and a worped rotor.
now for the back brakes!
wish me luck!!! thanks

I have the same problem with the sticky brakes on my 90 acclaim. I checked
the rear brakes by spinning the tires and they seemed ok. Removed the
front tires, replaced both calipers and pads on the front. When doing the
work, I found the passenger side pads almost worn out while the driver side
pads were ok. The calipers looked ok so left them alone. After the work
was done, it seemed better for a while but now it appears to be sticking
again. Any ideas on what else I should check??

the clue was the one side worn out, caliper??? hose?

I replace both calipers right from the start. How might the hose be the
problem?

Sorry for the confusion. I said the calipers were ok in my initial post.
What I meant to say is that the "rotors" looked ok so didn't replace them.
I replaced both calipers and pads.

the inside of the hose could come apart and act as a one way valve, not
letting the pressure release from the caliper and causing it to hang up, not
saying this is your problem but i have seen it many times

Replace the pistons in the calipers or replace the calipers

did you try replacing the caliper guide pins?
