The Dodge dealer rebuilt my trans while it was still under it's extended
warranty (@92k mi) because of low pump output. It now makes a whine noise
when I put it in gear, even stopped. I took it back to the dealer (2 years
& 35k mi later) and they said it is a bad pump again. They recommended a
remanufactured trans & reflash... for $3300!
I talked with the service Mgr and he offered no assistance with the repair.
They admitted that Chrysler is now providing a 3yr/36k mi warranty on
remanufactured transmissions, but only a 12/12k on a dealer rebuild.
I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions on how to get help from
Chrysler or where to go next. It appears that the dealer repair at 92k mi
was just sufficient to get it out of warranty, instead of doing a
remanufactured trans then!
Any constructive advice is appreciated.
Thank you,
Duane

I had one of those trannies and i know alot of people that have had problems
with that year range of caravan. the design of the electronic shift control
was bad for those years. If it is possible get a newer tranny to put into
it. Chrysler pretty much knew about the problem which is why they probably
opted for the rebuild instead of replacement. do you have a lemon law in
your area, you may want to check that out.

We took the kids to school and it was shifting fine then on the way home
it quit. Then a few days later it started shifting again. Drove it a few
miles and it would come out of low gear. It will go into reverse fine and
pull forward sometimes and sometimes it wont. What should I do.

I am questioning whether or not your problem is with the transmission, what
are the symptoms the vehicle is having? A whine would be the torque converter.
