Changing From a 904G to a 727 in a 17 Valiant

I have a few questions about swapping a /6 904g with a /6 727. the reason is
that the ring gear on the  torque converter on the 904 is bare and I can get
a FREE 225/6 and 727, so I was thinking about just swapping the trans.

I was wondering how possible this is?
Will I need to replace the drive line with a shorter one?
Will the shift linkage bolt right up?

First, what is the condition of this free 225 and 727? If the only problem
with your 904G is the stripped ring gear, and it works fine otherwise, you
might be better off simply swapping on a replacement torque converter.

Possible, but as has been mentioned, you'll need a shorter driveshaft and
a differently-splined output yoke, some linkage pieces may not work
correctly, and you may even encounter floor interference on your Valiant.
What's more, most of the 727Gs had the starter mounted down at V8 level
rather than up at conventional Slant-6 level, so you might find additional
clearance problems there as well as needing a new (longer) battery cable
and having to extend the other starter wires. Also be advised that some
applications that came with the 225/727 combo also came with a different
ring gear on the torque converter, that is not compatible with the regular
starter.

The 225/727 was pulled out of a dodge dart I think. the car from what I have
been told by the buddy that pulled it the car ran like a bat out of hell(he
just forgot to pull the drive line). it was purchased from an auction to be
scraped.

since it came out of an dodge dart(i think, but it was a car not truck),
would there be that much of a clerance diffrence?

Doubtful. There were a few such installations, but not many at all.

That depends! If it was originally installed in the Dart, then no, there
wouldn't be. If it was installed in the Dart after originally having been
installed in something else, then there might be the same clearance issues
in the Valiant as there were in the Dart.

Be advised also that the 727 is a heavier transmission than the 904 -- you
will be adding weight to the car for no real purpose.

Save yourself a lot of time and money. Sell the free 225 and 727 and just
buy a new torque converter for the 904.
