So you just have to know that Valentino Rossi is making some hard
decisions, too. He likes to make a splash quickly and make it last.
But say he comes in with Raikkonen in '07, sure, it's student and
master, but Kimi isn't exactly ancient - he could hold sway for more
than a few years with a strong car/team. Can Rossi handle being second
banana for that long (and would Kimi acquiesce if VR became king)?
Wouldn't VR rather learn under MS?? Maybe it was all just a setup that
Rossi was even being considered ... at the same time, Massa surely isn't
going to be there long, and MS wouldn't run with Kimi as a teammate, I
don't think. And yet I don't think Ferrari F1's main marching orders
are to have an Italian driver on the team now or on the horizon. So
Rossi's "testing" and photo ops could mean completely zip.
I'm sure JPM isn't going to have a problem finding a ride. IMO there
are a lot of second-rate drivers in F1, some in first-rate ride
situations, too. Button, Heidfeld, Webber, Sato, etc., are really not
that great and most have been given opportunities in decent cars. Ralf
S is probably a better driver than most of them, maybe even Fisichella.
But nearly all are second bananas.
But damn, it feels good to be discussing F1 this time of the year. Here
amongst friends, of course - I don't go to the lion dens (rasf1, etc.)
without a lion's knowledge on the subject.

If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can't see Chuck
Norris you may be only seconds away from death.

I think Michael will "still be around" with the team when he's retired.
He'll still be there to "advise, counsel and warn" whoever is there.
Maybe it was all just a setup that Rossi was

Especially if Jean Todt moves aside. Massa's there because of his
agent, no other reason.

Which is too bad. I think it'd bring out the best in both of them.

They'd hire a Martian if he was the best driver available. Nationality
doesn't figure anymore.
So Rossi's

My fear is that he "goes fast" and they give him a race seat without
developing his racecraft. That'll be the biggest learning curve for him.

Perhaps Team Willie will take him back!
Ralf

Ralf's shite. Good on the day, sucks the remaining 364.

You think those folks have knowledge???

A good Journeyman - and, to be fair, I don't think we've seen the best of
him
> Webber
Highly over-rated IMHO - still dining out on one attrition based points
finish in a Minardi & a couple of impressive quali session sin the Jag -
which turned out to be the result of running on fumes.

Doesn't belong in an F1 car

Useless unless the car is absolutely perfect

Last year suggests he doesn't really "have it" either - disappointing but I
don't think he can real "step up"

Best not to - Back-a.s has re-appeared over there recently!
