Since you're probably the only one besides Borland that would even care
about this info ... I am a major Coachella Festival fan, have attended
the last three. Maybe not this year because I'm moving, but I still
follow what's going on. I thought this info was funny because it dealt
with a favorite of yours:
How to Spot a Fake Line-Up
I've noticed a few trends over the past few years in fake line-ups and I
thought I'd point em out because its amusing. You can tell its a fake
line-up if:
1. ...Massive Attack is on it. Fake line-ups have been insisting Massive
Attack will be there every year for the past 5 years, and guess
what....NOPE. Their last album sucked, 3-D is their only remaining
member, and he was caught with child pornography. Even if they did come
I think the excitement over them has massively dissipated over the past
few years.
2. ...Boards of Canada is on it. They are slowly becoming the new
Massive Attack but they haven't been rumored quite as much.
3. ...almost all the bands on the line-up are indie-rock bands. Have the
people who fabricate these line-ups not yet noticed that Goldenvoice
prefers an eclectic line-up of bands EVERY year they have held this
event. There are always numerous dance, electronic, hip-hop, and even
some world music bands at Coachella. Which leads me to the next one.
4. ...any hip-hop, dance, or electronic band on the fake line-up (if
any) are acts that have been at past Coachellas or are just plain hacks.
(i.e. Underworld, Atmosphere, Fatboy Slim, Oakenfold, etc.)

Yep, that made me chuckle. We have exactly the same thing every year at
the UK's major festivals - endless 'rumours' of possible headlining
acts, and then the same bands do all the festivals (OK, that's terribly
unfair, but that's the way it looks). I'm not (and never was) much of a
festival person, one can only take (what we call) Porta-loos for so long
(without vomiting or fainting)... I also recal one ill-fated trip to
Glastonbury when one of my friends wok up (we camped there) the next
morning with his tent collapsed on his face and the fabric soaked in
piss...
...sadly, not his own.
