1970 LS6 Chevelle drag car = over $1,000,000
'67 GT40 = well under half that
Not that the GT40 was worth more than it got,
but compared to a Chevelle, ANY Chevelle...
I don't care if Big Daddy Don Garlits conceived
his children in the back seat of the damn thing,
over a million?!
I gotta say the streamliner bus was cool as hell,
but not $4,000,000 cool. Screeeeew that!
Maybe my '72 Honda CB350 will go deeper
into four figures this year! Better get a rag out
and polish that patina up a bit... Somebody has
to be nostalgic for it! Come on boomers, bring
cash!
I must be missing the 3 Ferraris or they haven't
shown them yet.

Wait, saw what looked to be a Testarossa roadster conversion
in Giallo in line.
A 512TR convertible? Bleah!

There is WAY too much money floating around right now.

And there were twelve built! Hardly one of a king.

I'm sure they won't even make the broadcast!

Come to think of it, Max Baer (Jethroe) was a Ferrari guy, so I guess
this is "on topic"!

I think you're right... I think they're pretty run-of-the-mill this year.
The Pontiac concept was kinda neat, what with the straight eight
under the hood. Still way too much money, but what do I know?
If I had $4,000,000 and _had_ to spend it on _one_ car, I'd uhh...
I can't think of any. It just seems too ridiculous.

And no excitement. Nothing like the bidding last year. It ran up quick
and stalled. I'm sure the "Bonneville" name didn't help. I thought the
Pontiac Banshee was a much more interesting car both in looks and
history. The Corvette lines well before the Mako Shark.

No, ridiculous is $4m on a friggin' BUS!
T308
(Who would only pay $4m for a bus if it was a multi-coloured school bus
that included ownership of a young Susan Dey. "Come on get happy!"
indeed....)

Funny that Bonaduce needs that advice more than the rest of them.
Of course he's trying to by every means necessary...

An early Alfa? '32 Monza, perhaps? And isn't spending $4 million on
anything rather ridiculous? Even multiple anythings?

I thought that Chevelle was REALLY nice - for about $85,000 - if only
for the historical racing value. I watched several hours and I just
could not believe what I was seeing. I'm not easily shocked - but are
these people so rich and so STUPID that they would cough up that kind of
coin for muscle cars? WTF?? And if the answer's "You know, things just
get so whipped up into a frenzy by those pros at Barrett-Jackson" well,
maybe they'd like to see how worked up I can get them over my 1987 Chevy
Suburban (only $42,000!), my 12 year-old HP Laserjet 4+ (a STEAL at
$7,300!) and of course my incredible collection of porn on VHS (over 45
tapes at only $87,435!!)
And then, these foolios store those cars away like bottles of Bourdeaux
so nobody can see them, hear them, etc. ("Drive it?? Are you stoopid?")
until either the market gets even more laughably ridiculous and they can
make a quick and juicy profit, OR they resell them quicker and you have
like this "lazy susan" of the same cars on the block over and over. I
happen to like muscle cars a lot, so I do want to see them and hear
them, but even if I were filthy rich I wouldn't be buying "all the ones
I ever wanted", not at those prices. I'd get a lot more happiness out
of a couple Ferraris, MAYBE one nasty old mid-Sixties 'Vette so I could
smoke some rubber once in awhile, lots of high-quality wine, booze, and
cigars, and a leetle bit of beachfront real estate.
I remember when the bottom fell out of the exotic car market; could the
same thing be not too far ahead for these lunkheads?
(Yeah, Allan Jones, I'm talking to you! How about buying a couple Jenny
Craig franchises instead - and visiting them frequently? No wonder your
son looked so happy ... at the rate you're going they'll all be his in a
couple years!)
I mean ... "The Howard Hughes Germ Car"???? WTF WTF WTF WTF!!!!!
C'mon, Bob Varsha - 'fess up! You feel exactly the same way. You do.

To me, perhaps ... I am pretty sure (pretty naive in your book) that
he's allowed the margin of calling it like he sees it most times.
Then again, a job in the public eye IS still a job, with something to lose!

He's never going to face the camera and describe the B-J auctions as
what they are: A bunch of pot-bellied yahoos sword fighting with
their checkbooks.
