Hey Buddy! It's good. Sad, but good. A little unbelievable in parts, but
well observed and absorbing

That one fell off my radar screen for a couple years,
but I've been meaning to check it out. I always thought
the premise sounded interesting.

I'm taking this thread all the way to Cuba, BTW.

Maybe you should try the other one then, the one with James Spader.

Funny thing is, at first I thought that was the one he was talking about...

No, no, no - we did the whole David Cronenberg, (based on the novel by
JG Ballard) 'Crash' discussion years ago.

This is in fact a recent remake - featuring a different director,
different cast and different story (and not based on the novel by JG
Ballard...   ....although it may be that some of the cast had seen the
original... ...however it's difficult to determine whether their
performances were driven in any by the experience... ....I dunno, ask Mr
Spielberg [tee-hee!]).

Anyway, it's a good film and I'd be interested in the views of you good
gun-toting folk (whom I only refer to as 'good' due to the gun-toting
bit... never upset an American with a gun.   Actkshully, I married an
American with a gun, so I pretty much have to watch myself 24/7... I
just hope tonight's lasagne goes down well... ).

I find the vast majority of gun portrayal in cinema
to be aggravating at best. They tend to have major
technical flaws, like a guy repeatedly pumping an
obviously empty shotgun followed by him firing a
shot with it, which is impossible. Other gun-in-media
flubs that are common are law enforcement officers
in movies and on TV breaking all the rules of gun
safety, showing civilians sporting fully automatic
weapons (which are available to them, but they
cost over $10k and you have to jump through several
bureaucratic hoops to obtain one), and my personal
favorite, the gun that apparently holds 900 rounds
because they fire that much and never reload.

Guns and gun owners are rarely portrayed with any
accuracy in movies, which isn't surprising since last
time I checked Hollywood was still located in the
People's Republic of Kalifornia...

I could rant for hours on this one, but I'd better just
relax and have another Smithwicks...

And not a word from ANY of you about the pics.  You dorks.  I didn't
notice the name of the group had changed to alt.autos.mindlessbullshit!
We do have a charter, you know.

I'll just go to someone who cares.  Hey T3, on one pic of a Ferrari 365
California Spyder I noticed a tail light set that appeared to have
"eyebrows" - can't throw down the link but I'll send you the pic if
you'd like to analyze.  Weird, ugly, and yet beautiful ... what was the
deal, was that a one-off?  Don't remember seeing that on any other
California.

I've seen a pic of that car myself. What gives?

365 California should not be called a SPIDER.  It is a Cabriolet.

Do you mean the yellow reflector "trapezoids" filling the space above
the triple light clusters?  Not a one off at all.

Iirc, they used at least five different taillight forms.

Nope, they're red.  Go through those pics at ultimatecarpage.com and
find it, it's like the 10th page through, and you'll see what I mean.

As far as the "S" word, I just went by what they called it, I never get
it right anyway.

Jezzus...

"No search results for '365 california'. Try to rephrase your query

There were 14 365 Californias, at least five different taillight
treatments, not one of them a SPIDER.

That is so, but it never stopped the factory (even on Italian only
documents like the Omologazione forms) from using it!

On the top of the page featuring the photo it said "Ferrari 365
California Spyder".  I cut and pasted it.  At this point I don't give a
f.ck if it was called "Baloney Sandwich", all I wanted to know about was
the taillight treatments.  I sent the pic to your email, anyway.

Sorry, bad mood.  Today is one day I wish all children under the age of
18 could be rounded up and exterminated. f.cking blight on society.  I'm
certain that tomorrow I will feel differently.

Sure, pass it on.  There are several different tail treatments, none of
them nice, on these cars.  I find them the ugliest of the open cars.

Beautiful cars, ugly taillights.
