Last Thursday, promised date of return went by, and I said "It's ok, make sure you take the time you need to do it right" Same Friday. And Monday. And Today And so, the latest promise is tomorrow. I just got 1/2 a dozen EBay bought magazines and books on my Testarossa. I will read them, and wait out the reassembly, the professionally done correction of rock chips, the hand bleeding of the brakes, and hope that when I FINALLY get the car, that it is wonderful. I've already read enough to know I should have saved a bit more and bought a 512TR, but something about the spline wheel, center knock off draws me to the design of the pre 88.5 still. Who knows what it will be like to drive? Who knows what it will > be like to drive? Still waiting. While I like the 512TR better myself, there certainly is something to be said for the earlier TRs (resist the urge, haters). The spline hubs, the rawness of the design, nothing looked like that in '85. There was the Countach with its kit-car taillight treatment, and, errr... That's it. The early TR was the hot exotic of its time. Have I mentioned the exhaust note when uncorked? Well screw it, I'm mentioning it one more time. Sexy sexy sexy! Still want a '93 model... As a matter of fact, I don't believe you mentioned the exhaust note being *uncorked*. If you did, I missed that part, as I've been wondering what TR you had heard that sounded so amazing to you. With the stock exhaust pipes, the TR is a very, quiet car. Don't get me wrong, they purr, but it's a far more subtle sound than what most people expect from such an exotic car. The car came home two days ago, and I've been able to drive it about 25 additional miles. Having purchased aftermarket exhausts for many prior vehicles, I'm going to wait a while before considering it for the TR. This is my first "hard top" sports/gt car, and the last two times (2 of 3) I've driven it, I had the windows up, stereo off. With the engine quiet, I hear belts, early stumble at cold start up, and a variety of sounds from behind me that would ordinarily be drowned out by a louder exhaust. First I think I'll get to know the car, (and absorb the initial costs) before I start moving to a louder sound. My initial impressions is that I need a bit more familiarity with the dimensions of the car at slow speeds and parking. All the better to keep the rear from being damaged. More as I get to know the car better. The good news is that it is home, fresh with belts, water pump rebuild, new ECU and on and on. Looks very good. <<"Get your package yet...?">> Yup! And it rocks! Thank you, thank you! And, uh.... please forgive me for not thanking you sooner. The package actually arrived a few days ago. I suck, don't I? I don't deserve such kindness. Lucky for me you didn't find that out till after I go the way cool gift! BTW, for everyone else's edification and jealousy, Matt sent me a Cavallino done in laser cut steel/aluminum/some kinda metal powder coated black. It's nifty!
