Hey, I just bought a 1995 348 Spider and am new to the Ferrari family! Quick question to anyone that knows, I don't plan to take it out in the rain, but when it does, the engine will surly get dumped on. Is there some kind of cover I'm supposed to get to put in the trunk lid or something for such an occasion that can't be avoided? - Dan > Hey, I just bought a 1995 348 Spider and am new to the Ferrari family! Lets hope your bank balance is absolutely huge, without it boy, you're just about to well and truely...stuffed. We'll call you Christmas, then, shall we? There has been a 348 in my family since it was bought new in 1994 and the only problem it's ever had has been with the A/C. It's not my favorite of Ferraris, but it sounds beautiful and has run very well for over a decade. Generally, generalizations are wrong. C. Everything Mikal says is wrong. I think it's the same for most Ferraris (and when you think about it, many cars - after all, a large puddle will splash a lot of water up onto any engine). The only issues with water and engines are: you don't want any to get in it (for obvious reasons), electrics and corrosion (if anyone wants to add to the list, feel free). You really won't get any into the engine unless you try to test the car's amphibious capability, electrics seem pretty reliable to me and as for corrosion... who knows. If I were you I'd cease worrying about it. Do you worry about all your cars getting wet or just the Ferrari? Do you never plan to wash this car? If it makes you feel any better, I've raced a 355 F1 in the rain with puddles so big in the apexes that a wave would slosh over the top of the door into the car. Even with all the extra electronic gizmos in the cockpit, the car still ran fine. C.
