I have a 95 348 Spyder, the Check Engine 1/4 light keeps coming on and
going off while I drive.  Anyone ever experience this issue and have
any idea what it could be?  I'm thinking about taking the car on a
little trip to the shore and am concerned about this light.

Thanks for anyone who can help,
Dan

Likely the thermocouple ECU.  Is the car down on power at all?

I actually just got the battery replaced.  The previous owner hadn't
changed the battery in like 8 years and it was completly dead.  I did
just take it on a 120 mile trip and the light didn't come on once,
which surprised me.   But it did reapear prior since the battery
change.

That lead to any more clues?  The dealership says it could be a million
differant things and god knows what they'll come up with if I bring it
in.

Its the catalyst ECU,  (Cat ECU)  well known to be problematic.

If its playing up now change them both before a good long journey, misfiring
will be next step and then intermittent shut down of four cylinders on the
offending Cat ECU bank, this will make the vehicle totally undriveable, it's
a relatively cheap fix and too expensive, Real expensive problems are your
AC / climate box,  twin plate clutch or the dreaded cambelt every ** 2 **
years, idiots go for 3 or 4 years, I've seen the consequences of a 3 year
belt change failure, the guy burnt his own car out to claim on the insurance
as stolen, the engine damage was that expensive.
