Echo..... echo..... echo.....

<sniffs cold air, gazes into darkness>

Anybody in  here?

<empty silence>

...Well, I guess T308 is still golfing, Mikey is probably still cleaning
blood off his hands (anything to maintain that 'psycho' thing)... Thomas
is either dead or just not playing any more (hopefully the latter)...
Ok, I've been a little occupied keeping my business's head above water
(picking up a little, I'm much relieved to say) so I can hardly
complain... but where are the rest of you?

...and whatever happened to the others from 'back in the day' ? The
Speaker, Funkraum, Ric, Mike Hanson, Zak, etc, etc.... Even Joe and Rue
are heading into the 'once upon a time' category...

...Ah well...

On a seasonal note, I had to scrape ice off the daily-driver this
morning, so it will soon be time to apply some protection to the 308.
This year's preserve is cranberry sauce. I shall be applying it
liberally very soon.

The 308 is overdue an MOT test and needs a new steering rack (not the
end of the world at around £250, but we'll see what the laobour adds)...
.and I noticed a couple of rust spots developing on a rear wing, south
of the butress.... ....more money.

That's all.

Lol .....'mikey' is a fantasist with one of a hell of a *BIG* drug
problem....
If you gave him the 'go ahead' for himself and another, without any penal
penalty and to fight to the death,  'mikey' would sh.t himself and run a
mile... 'mikey' is weak....'mikey' will never make anything of
himself....'mikey' will always rely on others to feed his habit(s)...'mikey'
will take as much as the good Americans(whom work for it) will give him
freely...

Get the picture duffers?

'mikey' is just another waster...

'mikey' doesn't need applauding for his disgusting worthless existance,
'mikey' just needs eliminating..

Wow, I might have figured out his patterns ... he shows up in force when
there's nobody around to deal with him!

FYI, f.ck-job, I have a lot of things on my plate right now and I
haven't been able to peek in here.  Contrary to the lonely, pitiful life
you lead with all your Lambos and your RealDolls, I actually have a few
things going which are taking up a lot of my time.  About the only thing
that takes up your time is ale.

I think I love you, Mikal.  I've decided that your rants hide a
delusional force so pure, so primeval, and so humanly admirable in its
longevity that I pale in comparison and should instead worship you.  I
will build an altar to you, here at my home and also at yours.  I will
entertain horses in a carnal manner in your town square so you can sell
pictures to the tabloids.  I will let you urinate on me.  I will put my
loving arms around you when you come home so late every night, drunk
beyond comprehension, and I will tell you that you really *are* the man
nobody thinks you are.  I will take your foolish fumblings and make them
into burning love.  I will be devoted to you.  Thank you for being here.
Thank you for being alive.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Oh, and my girlfriend wants to meet you too.  She definitely thinks you
are the man nobody thinks you are.

maybe you should just give up and move to warmer climes?  i hear LA is
nice this time of year, tho' that "right hooker" of yours may be a bit
difficult on the freeways.  Then again aren't hookers always difficult?

Pub run in late March anyone??

What, from Scotland? I think sir will find it a tad cold over the winter
months.

I hear that soon we should have the perfect climate for certain
varieties of grape, which should allow us to produce some of the finest
white wines... apparently (I'll believe it when I see it).

I'm thinking more South of France than South Central. Also, I'd quite
like to stay alive.

Maybe you should tip more.

I shall be in Scotland (again!) but I think I'll make a side trip to
London at the end of the month.  What say you?

I've been bored! And aside from being too quiet, you people are
entirely too nice to me. There's no challenge left. Those guys think
I'm a raging bitch who hates men and... well, bikinis, I guess.

Some (far too many) of those people are seriously f.cked up.

...SF shields on a back door PininFarina one-off, for f.ck's sake.

But, the guy doing the engine out service on his own 512 BBi, and the
guy doing his own metal work and everything else on his own 308, and
the father and son doing the rotisserie job on the their own 246 do
make it worth while.

Small bits of joy indeed.  I hang around for the all too infrequent
"pictures of my dad's Ferrari from 1968" threads.  Some of that stuff is
pure gold.

This one isn't diy, but still great:

The restoration threads go some way in mitigating the "look at these
Hooters waitresses posing with my TR" crap.

...But those unchecked poseur asshats and their ignorant spurious SF
shields still render most of F-Chat unendurable.

Ok, will somebody (preferably Mark, as his descriptive style will no
doubt be the most appropriate) explain to an ignorant 'limey' what
'Hooters' is? I walked past one in Nashville and asked Gretchen about
them, but she seemed unable explain the attraction.

The short version:  A proactive halfway house for young, pretty, but
none too bright, girls following their path to careers as strippers,
call girls and hookers.

Hooters:  A restaurant (loosely defined) chain featuring exclusively
'young' women as waitresses, wearing a unvarying costume of white
sneakers, objectionably thick pantyhose ('tights', for those whose
money requires a gravitational field), orange short shorts, and tight
white knit tops featuring the Hooters' owl and the chain's 'Wildesque'
catchphrase: "delightfully tacky yet unrefined".

The typical client is either a 'stroppy' twentysomething, or middle
aged business traveler, both working up their nerve for an evening
with the 'real thing'.

http://www.hooters.com/company/about_hooters/

The gustatory gateway drug on the way to prostitution, for both client
and server.

I've been once:  Indianapolis during the GP in 2003.  The food was
terrible (almost everything is deep fried till unrecognizable), and
we're still waiting on a basket of fries, gratefully.  Waitress was
cute enough, if your idea of sexy requires the Miracle/Wonder bra.

...And there really is at least one guy on F-Chat proudly posting
pictures of his TR (perhaps a BB) with the Hooters waitresses he's
pulled.  Most would be grateful to meet a guy who doesn't live in his
mother's basement and owns his own car, for a change.

Thank you - I now consider myself educated.

The web site is a real gem. Note the philosophical exploration of
semantics:

"The chain acknowledges that many consider "Hooters" a slang term for a
portion of the female anatomy. Hooters does have an owl inside its logo
and uses an owl theme sufficiently to allow debate to occur over the
meaning's intent. The chain enjoys and benefits from this debate."

The stunning revelation that:

"Hooters hires women who best fit the image of a Hooters Girl"

And the frankly reassuring:

"Hooters will continue to be allowed to hire only women for the job of
Hooters Girl."

I can't wait to visit!

P.S. I note 'clams' and 'chicken wings' are on offer. I assume that
these are only available (at extra cost) in a 'private' dining area.

"Chicken wings"?  Just what are the kids calling that?

I'm still lurking.  I've managed to get to the last three or four
Cavallino Classics, even.  AND I got to take the 'stang out on the track

I'm still around.  I check this daily, when there is something to
check.  I thought I had replied to this already but i think i replied
to the digest and its out there in no mans land.  I have moved across
the country to the mountains of California.  We are getting snow, and
the ski area is open for skiing.  I have had to scrape the truck a few
times as well.  Yesterday on top of the mountain we had 138mph winds.
We need more snow tho.  The view out my window is amazing, great
mountain views from 9000ft.  I will try to contribute more, but my
contributions would mostly be drooling, we dont get many ferraris
around here, but i did see a real nice 355 going down highway 395 -
that would be a fun drive in a ferrari.  Mostly we have too many
porsche cayenne's around here.  I guess the only 4wd ferrari is owned
by the slutan if there is such a thing

Of course, right after I post this, there was a Silver 550 in the
parking lot.  First time i have seen one of those in person.  Nice car.
Big guy driving it.  I would love to drive that thing up the hill.  4
miles of curvy mountain road, all uphill.  That would be a blast
