Paul Duffin - 17 Aug 2007 20:46 GMT Yep. Setting off tommorow. Paris, then down to the Cote d'Azur via the Millau bridge (which I've wanted to see since it was built). Then up through the Alps into Italy and the lakes, across Switzerland to lake Konstanz, north up the Rhein then crossing the corner of Holland into Belgium for a beer and some fries before heading back home, no doubt carrying a fair few more kilos than I set off with....
<distant echo of own voice comes back>
I wonder if anyone is still here to read this? Hello? Hello-oh?
Nope?
Ah well, all is vanity, after all...

James - 17 Aug 2007 22:31 GMT Enjoy the trip! I'll be doing the same...a trip that is. Unfortunately, only heading to the Texas coast (and hopefully leaving before hurricane Dean makes landfall) and then possibly up to Dallas (kids want to visit yet another Six Flags theme park this year). The European vacation w/the wife & kids doesn't come until next spring break (why must schooling get in the way of family fun?). By the way, don't look at any naked ladies on those beautiful beaches - or if you do, post some .gifs when you get back! :-)

Me? look at naked ladies? no way! ;-) Looks like we may actually make it to Italy next year. Looking at a villa to rent in Tuscany.. which if I read the map right, is only a day trip from Maranello...

Yep, Maranello is well worth a trip, 'specially the Galleria, but if only for the factory gates, it's worth doing.

Is it hard to get in? My great sense of timing has always been such that it wasn't time to eat on either occasion that I've visted Maranello (I only passed through, I don't think it would be a great place to stay in). I seem to recall looking at the menu and noting that it wasn't expensive, but this was ten years ago...

Yesterday we did a nice drive (albeit not in a ferrari, a subaru forester sports 2.5 turbo) up through napa, accross through sonoma, over to the coast, stopped at Dillon Beach, down route 1 through golden gate national recreation area along the coast, across san francisco, through Berkeley, down to Fremont where we stopped to do some "indoor gokart racing" at LeMans Karting - http://www.lemanskarting.com/ - then through Yosemite and through the Eastern Sierras back to Mammoth Mountain. beautiful, but long drive.

I love to ride up the PCH from SF, stopping at Tony's on Tomales Bay for BBQ oysters!
RicDeez - 31 Aug 2007 15:40 GMT I will have to remember Tony's for next time. We were anticipating going to In 'n Out, we dont have one of those in Mammoth. Yes, it was a beautiful drive.
