My father owns a 1994 Ferrari Challenge and the seat belt retractors for
both the driver and passenger side have stopped working.
He has asked me to work on it, but I have not been able to find any
information on WHERE the parts are physically in the car.
I know it is a tape retraction device, so ther has to be takeup reel and
motor. Also, there is som control electronics for it.
I am guessing the tape retraction reel and motor are physically behind the
seats, but I am not certain it it goes through the firewall, or in the
passenger compartment. Also, my father mentioned a mechanic saying
something abe the ground wires causing this problem and pointed more or less
at the driver-passenger divider, maybe below the radio in the console ??
All in all, I want to avoid tearing things apart just looking for the seat
belt mechanism and control box. I am hoping someone here may be able to
give me a clue as to where they are physically in the car.
Any information would be appreciated,
Thanks, Jim

Well, you might get an answer here, but this group is a ghost town these
days. I'd try FerrariChat.Com. Much more active and a good source of
technical information.

Thanks Paul, I have checked that group on your recommendation and I see a
lot of good information. Once I registered I was able to search and I got
the answers I needed. Now I have to dig into the car and actually fix it
( If I am lucky ).

Would suggest you seek out the 348 Workshop and Repair manual and/or the
parts manual. If you're just looking for "how things go together" the
parts manual should suit you. You can find them on ebay and on line.
