If you put a porsche GT1 on the same race track as tigerrace1 and her
Ferrari F355 there would be a smoked italian! Not only that but pretty cool
that the new Porsche SUV could smoke just about every ferrari model made
before 1995.  I can't wait to see the head to head test of the Carrera GT
against (insert ferrari model here).  Porsche will definitly look better,
probably score higher marks with its ceramic clutch and breaks..I mean you
guys have to admit that that is a impressive car? German engineering, been
the best since the first car in the WORLD was put togather 110 years ago and
will be the best until the end of time.

Porsche will look better?

The Carrera GT looks ok, but when it comes to pure presence, Porsche isn't
in the same league as Ferrari. I pulled up at the lights in my yellow F355
spider, right beside a midnight black 993 Porsche turbo. The group of women
that stopped to admire my Ferrari didn't even notice the Porsche. The driver
might as well have been sitting in a plastic bag!

Good. Go buy one.

Whatever, troll.  The Carrera GT is a rather impressive car, yes.  But
putting any Porsche up against a Ferrari as far as looks, style, mystique,
AND performance - in many cases - is a losing cause and deep down inside you
know it.

The Enzo vs. the Carrera GT will be another of those "supercar road tests"
all the mags will trumpet - and yes, the Carrera GT *may* win on absolute
numbers.  But it won't -ever- look better going around the track at speed
than the Enzo (or the racing version 550 GT, for that matter).

I've seen almost a dozen Cayennes since my first encounter, in various
colors, and they do nothing for me.  The only people that will buy them are
Porsche die-hards, period.

I loved Elke Sommer.  But I *wanted* Sophia Loren.

End of argument.  Give it up.

Agreed, but how do you mean 'numbers' MC?  It's just that I've just flicked
through last month's Evo mag & they ran a 'spec' comparison between the two
cars - it was the Enzo that came out top in every area.

Here's a side-by-side for you:
http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/comp/?id=97108&id=105677 (my
site)

Highlights: 650 vs 603 bhp, 657 vs 590 nm (ouch), 1365kg vs 1380kg, all
former specs Enzo; latter ones Carrera GT. Make no mistake both are
fantastic cars, but I do think that the Enzo has more than just a little
edge. I'd have to imagine that the Carrera GT suffers when it comes to
torsional rigidity as well, being an open car. I wish we could see Michael
Schumacher wring the best out of both of them around a decent track.

Ciao

Well, I said *may* ... knowing that somebody would have numbers handy and
either support or defeat me.  I'm glad the Enzo wins the comparison ... the
Carrera GT is a bit too droid-ish and futuristic-looking for my taste (more
so than the Enzo).

BTW, this guy isn't Mikal, not IMO.  Same amateurish writing style, but
Mikal always came in with the profane insults from the get-go.  Although I
know you can't keep a fly away from a picnic table forever, so maybe he's
snuck in again.

Seeing as how one a full tilt race car and the 355 a street machine...

The Enzo has Ceramic-carbon "brakes" as well.

Didn't "Ferry" Porsche cut his teeth designing tanks for the Third
Reich and working slave laborers to death building them?  Like wise
Mercedes-Benz and ovens of some sort?

Indeed, testing instruments cannot yet measure the intangible soul of
the machine, thereby soulless cars from Germany and Japan sometimes
appear to excel.

I've heard an S-type, and that motor makes a lovely noise, but at
5,700lbs:  What the f.ck?!!!

Car and Driver said "It's sure to be a huge status codpiece[...]"
...they barely veiled their contempt for it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

(OK, I can:  Claudia Schiffer vs Fabbiana Udenio.)

The Enzo looks weird. I just looked at both the new Carrera GT and the
Enzo on-line last night.. I would take the style of the Carrera GT
hands down.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Ferrari's style, but I much prefer that of
the older 308/328 GT/S. Although, at $440K- I think that I would stick
with a 308.

Are you trying to convince us, ExtraSmell, or yourself?  If you're
trying to convince us, don't bother, all you will acheive is amusing
us for a few days and then you'll be ignored.

Porsche Carrera GT will be produced by ATR Cars, in Italy (as well as
Ferrari Enzo).

You do mean the original Hummer and not the H2 right?

Yes, but an Unimog will make the Hummer look like a Tonka Toy.

I would bet yes, but performance wise the Cayenne would kick a.s, unless the
Hummer was "fixed", perhaps Lingenfelter style.  However, as far as which
one can go "farther, deeper", etc., I take the H2.  No contest.

You take the H2?  Shows how much you know.  The H2 has NOTHING in common
with the original Hummer.  It's actually a Suburban chassis.  Talk to
any engineer at GM and they'll confirm that.

I've looked into them.  I know plenty.  Not to mention that I NEVER said the
H2 could match the H1 offroad (though I think it gets extremely close).

While the H2 does use the Tahoe-family chassis and drivetrain (and GM does
not hide that fact, you don't have to talk to a GM engineer), it has been
EXTENSIVELY strengthened and modified underneath - extensively.  I'm sure
there isn't a doubt in any real offroader's mind that the H2 will outperform
a Cayenne offroad - maybe not in sheer speed tests, but definitely in
trials-like torture tests, the Rubicon, etc.

Do a little research before you pull your pistol around here, son.

ROTFL...  you keep telling yourself that.  There is NO WAY that the H2
can come close to the H1 in offroad ability.  Look underneath.  See the
axles in the H2?  See it in the H1?  See the difference?

Unfortunately, you listen to the GM sales/promotion group.  Talk to
actual engineers and you'll get a different story.

Please provide links where an unmodified H2 has been compared against a
Cayenne in said torture tests, and was proven to be superior.

> Do a little research before you pull your pistol around here, son.

Considering I know a couple of people that worked on the H2, I'ld say
I'm more informed that you could ever hope to be.

   Not me!

A force of 300 Spartans stood at the pass of Thermopylae facing 100,000
Persians.
The Persians said to them, "Lay down your arms and we will let you live."
The Spartans replied, "Come and get them."
The Persians tried to reason with them, saying, "Our archers are so many
that our arrows will darken the sky."
The Spartans answered, "So much the better, then we shall fight in the
shade."

Ahh ... I just don't care enough about this issue to dig all over the place
for info and don my fencing gear.  If I bought a sports car, it would be a
Ferrari.  If I bought an ... upscale ... off-roader, it would be an H2.  I
could care less what he owns or wants.  He can say what he wants.

You sound familiar ... Sweetie says hi!

The Enzo would leave the Carrera GT for dead on the road and the track. It has
more power and less weight and if you read reports of the Enzo almost all the
jounrnalists who have driven it have said that they are the best ever
(carbon)brakes on a road car.
