Hi guys,

Anyone know of a reputable garage in the Newport/Cardiff area that can take
a look at my Mondial QV without me needing a second mortgage.

I had the car transported up to QV Ascot last week for a new water pump,
sports exhaust and service.  Bill including transporter, parts, work etc
came to 2 grand and all was fine and dandy.  After driving it back to
Newport and parking it up for a few days in the garage it now won't
start....  It's turning over but no fuel is getting through it seems.

As it is not practical to get it back up to Ascot and I really don't want to
get it picked up by Dick Lovett Ferrari in Cardiff (quoted me over ?700 for
a water pump last week), does anyone know of someone relatively local that
can take a gander at it?  I'd appreciate the help.

Taverymuchlike,

Jon

Have you talked to QV about it? What they say?

I.

Hi Iain,

I didn't speak with QV about it because I was pretty sure it was a separate
issue.  The work QV did was first-rate and wasn't related to the
starter/fuel system.
In the end I called out the rescue service that is affiliated to my
insurance policy to see if they could at least diagnose the fault before I
had to have any work done by a "real" garage.

Anyway, after 2 hours the mechanic said it was the fuel pump and arranged
for a flatbed truck to pick the car up and whisk it to the workshop.  By
this time I was resigned to the fact that it was going to cost me big bucks
again so I popped off to the bank to draw the green.  As I was walking out
of the bank I got a call from the garage to say I could come and get the
car(!) In the end it turned out to be a darn fuse!  The chaps at the garage
were great and didn't charge anything so I just gave them something for some
beers and went my merry way.  A happy bunny.

That is to say, until that evening, when the "imminent brake failure" light
came on......  Waaaaah.  I closed the garage door and haven't gone in since.
