Got one!
I have a 'Euro' (well, UK to be precise!) '84 GTS QV. A wonderful car
that you won't regret buying. However, be very careful to ensure you know
what you're getting. Even the most cautious inspection by a lay person is
not going to reveal hidden problems. A few years ago I took my 308 in
for 'minor' rust spot painting. If you had asked me at the time I would
have sworn that the car was in very good condition, needing only very
minor cosmetic paintwork. If you go to my site, click on 'photos' then 'The
horror' you'll see what became apparent as the paint came off :-(

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the tip. I looked at your web site while I was trying to
decide what to search for. The horror is right :-) There were a
couple of cars that appeared on e-bay at about that time that I ran away
from as soon as I saw the rust bubbles. Anyway, I'm trying to line up
someone to do a pre purchase inspection of the car I'm looking at. The
car sounds pretty well maintained. He has the records back to '91. Its
due for timing belts. He even told me it had been "tapped" and
repaired. Will a thorough ppi discover the quality of the repair?
Cheers,
Lance

Yet.....
advanced preparation for such things is always helpful.....you just know
you'll love that high driving position, easy access, load carrying capacity
and best of all that oh so squashy handling!

So far, the car looks pretty good. But now I've discovered that the VIN
on the title doesn't match the cars VIN. It looks like it was a
clerical error. The title has an 8 where there should be a B. How much
should I worry? I'm hoping that the title can be amended before I go
through with this. I'd hate for someone to show up with a title that
has the correct VIN at some point...
