any help is much appreciated, im buying a new car, but dont know wether to buy
a 97 ferrari 355 spyder w/ 18k for $ 95,000, or buy a new porsche turbo?? or
maybe a carrera 4s? ive had alot of porsches over the years and loved them all
but nothing newer that a 95 turbo, im scared of the new liquid cooled, power
steering, and hydraulic lifters?!?!? i mean c'mon a 911 is a racecar, right?
with out all that crap, at the same time if its fast and the monthy expanses
are down, ex rockers being adjusted (wont miss that) how is the new porsche? i
havent driven one yet because of the horrible weather but when the sun comes
out again im gonna go check a new turbo out, any ferrari owners if you can give
me an aprox. service monthly expense i would like that, to all my porsche guys,
please dont call me a trader, ill still keep my turbo!!

Well, you didn't address this to the porsche group (alt.autos.porsche), but
you wrote it as if you intended to, so maybe this is just a troll.

If not, I'm pretty sure most people here would tell you to go for the
Ferrari.  Sounds like you've not had one before, and if you're a lifelong
Porsche fan you should try something different at least once.  You might
want to check around a bit, though, I'm certainly not an expert but that's a
six year-old car and you might be able get a better deal.

Course, right now I'm in the doghouse around here, so I'd imagine my opinion
means nowt.

I think I'm losing it.  The thrill is gone.  <breaks into warbling B.B. King
impression and goes looking for a short pier>

I think you got plenty of help on that question ... and never a denigratory
utterance came from me.  So back off.  In general, and if I can help it, the
only thing I like to "bring" is a twelve-pack.

Well, in New Zealand a Ferrari generally makes for much better investment
than a Porcshe.  But both are great of course, however they are very
different to drive (comparing the models of each I have been lucky enough to
take for a drive).  I agree with one other guy, try something different and
if you decide it's not you, switch back again.

Let us know what you do.

Don't know but doubt it myself.

Stick with the porsche.  You don't get the whole Ferrari "thing".
