hi all

deep regret, but selling my '80 308 gtsi for new house.  all records back to
window sticker. added factory 288 gto mirrors (steel, folding) for better
viewing at $1600 for the pair, a few top line stereo amps/woofer/tweeters.
will be smogged for california in april (easily passes).
pulls to side upon braking, extra holes where factory mirror were.  no rust.
has not been repainted since factory and shows hairline lacquer checking.
no accidents that i know of. i think about 78k miles now. 75k miles service
complete and recent tune, fluids changed, etc last month. red with tan, gtsi
= convertible top as you know.
$22,500.00 obo.cash please.  i think fairly decent price to move this along
rather quickly as i'm facing escrow.
southern california, san diego area. (where housing prices are absolutely
insane!).

Don't be so sure on that.... sadlly prices are falling away again. Apart
from the odd very low mileage car (there was one for sale at Graypaul with
79 miles on it a few weeks ago) 328s are firmly at the bottom of the
?30-?35K range now.

And at $1.80 per pound, ?30,000 comes out to $54,837.81.  So, yeah, you
Brits would be paying more then double.

That price range was for a 328, not a 308 - those are in the low to mid 20's
here.

And, intending no offence to Gary!:  A US spec. 1980 GTS was never the
Ferrari the legend was made of; easily handled by a healthy Integra on
any day.  Add: Needs calipers and paint; 78k miles simply can't look
well on the furniture...

absolutely none taken...i haven't raced any cars lately, but i know most
will blow my doors off.  but that wasn't my intent when i bought the 308.
just for the pure fun of owning a ferrari and the kicks of driving top down
in the summers here.  the last acura owner i talked to didn't want to race,
but his girlfriend sure wanted a ride!  the attention and conversation
starters is nice too.
i didn't want the maintenance headache of the 12's, and really haven't had
to put any large sums of $$ into it, just required service and pampering.
i offered it up in the group first because it's a well-kept, solid car
except for the pulling and checking. the interior still looks new and the
seats have never had the sheepskins off except for cleaning.  i think it
will sell just fine in the auto trader.  i just thought i would give anyone
in the group a few days before i ran an ad.

Still mad at me for being a Republican?

That would be prejudiced of me. I'm mad at you for being an extreme, right wing
Republican, but you can still take me for a ride in your Ferrari when I come to
the City in September.

Well, I'm not that all extreme, but I think you would agree that if
you aren't passionate about your beliefs, what's the point.

Can't wait to take you for that ride,

Hmmm.

My beliefs are rong?  I have simple beliefs - which ones are wrong?

- Defend thyself, family and friends, and nation
- Belief in my God, and respect everyone elses
- Capitalism
- Besides sex, there are few things better, than a sunny Saturday
afternoon, a few cold beers, and waxing one's Ferrari
- White collar criminals should be given equal airtime on COPS, chased
down, tacked and beat up, the same way crack dealers are
- If it's ok to ship US jobs to India, the US public should be able to
buy cheap prescription drugs from Canada
- BMWs are great cars, Porsches are overpriced BMWs, and anything from
the pacific rim is a knock-off no better than the fake Coach
pocket-books the guy downstairs is selling on the sidewalk
- Steve McQueen was the coolest, and I miss him

I seriously need to introduce you to my dad. You could single-handedly change
his view of my *freaky online friends*. The gods know that EuroPaul ain't gonna
do it. Are you coming to the Lime Rock race this year?

you're fine. <g>

HEY! I'm a very down-to-earth sort of chap! What could your father possibly
have to worry about?

um ...he hasn't seen my web site, has he?

If you were an American, you'd be a liberal Democrat. The only thing dad's
gonna like about you is your car.

Gretchen's not his daughter. He wouldn't mind. <g>

Dad's getting old and his memory isn't what it used to be. He needs to be
reintroduced to people he hasn't seen in decades.

In light of the catty one's comments let me reinforce my intention: I
was merely trying to explain the apparent depressed value, not slam
you or your car in any way.

are bidding above asking and appraised.  i gave my last bid this morning, so
if this falls through, i'm done and keeping the 308.
