I'm not actually suggesting that anyone do this, but it might be interesting to
be a footnote in history. A tiny, tiny footnote. <g>

Linky no worky, just gives a Morgan page with
no content besides links and a box saying to and
from in it.

It offers me a link to unsubscribe from the list too.

Judging by the subject line, I'd say it's a great idea.
Something fun to do with no pressure of actually
winning, easier to try and preserve the car for a
good finish that way. Kinda like the old Cyclops II
chronicles, but in real life. It's more fun to be the
underdog, more like fighting for a cause...

Tell me someone remembers the Cyclops II stories.

Okie dokie! Here's the text...

Time running out for Le Mans supporters

After almost two years of against-the-odds effort, the Morgan Works Team will
be en route in just 15 days time to compete in the world's biggest sports car
race at Le Mans, France.

Following the unfortunate crash during testing that ended Keith Ahlers'
ambitions to drive with the team in 2004, the car is currently being rebuilt
and prepared for 24 long and gruelling hours of racing.

We are now beginning to turn our attention to final details, and this includes
the sponsorship logos and names of private supporters that the car will carry
throughout its long and high profile campaign.

Many have already kindly donated much-needed funds to help the Team continue
its mission, and we are sincerely grateful. Every cent we receive goes towards
the essential parts and equipment we need to challenge the well-funded Porsches
and Ferraris.

There is still time to join us - for as little as a £50 donation, we will add
your name to the list of supporters on the car, and on the team's web site. If
you can afford more, we can certainly put it to good use. But please hurry -
time is running out for us to get the stickers produced!

Donating is simple and safe via our secure credit card system - you can access
the secure site via www.morganworks.com - where you can also find
up-to-the-minute information and pictures. When the race gets underway, we'll
be broadcasting live web cam and updates direct from the Morgan Works pit
garage.

Best wishes,
David Dowse
Team Manager

Bad enough my dad races a Morgan here in the States, but he's going all the way
to France to race something called a *Deep Sanderson*. Whatever the Hel that
is. Not sure if I should be embarrassed or not.

*Deep Sanderson*... Mmm-hmm.

I think that's third base, unless you live in a
trailer park, then it's second...

Wow. That's actually quite cool. It's a Mini-based special, not unlike
the contemporary Unipower. That is, assuming he's going to race the Deep
Sanderson 301. I suspect though that he's going to be racing the 303, a
V8 engined late-60's race car. Chris Lawrence, the man who founded Deep
Sanderson, later turned to making the French Monica GT cars, with almost
as little success as the Deep Sandersons had production-wise...

Not sure if this is reason to be embarassed or not, but the DS hailed
from Staines - this will only make sense if you've watched Ali G ;)

Found a pic for you:

http://www.motorsnippets.com/cars/motor_racing/nick/deep-sand_pits.htm

That is, I would guess, a 301. I suspect that the driver isn't
particularly tall, despite his head sticking out above the top of the car
- they were only 36 inches high anyway!

I think that's it. Was that car raced at Le Mans?

<<Chris Lawrence, the man who founded Deep Sanderson, later turned to making

Christopher will be driving at the Classic, too.

Not sure if that is the car that I've seen pics of, or not.

The 512F is only 38 inches tall, but it had a roof bubble added to accomodate
Mike Parkes. That's the only reason that dad fits into it. We're not at all
certain that he'll fit into the Deep Sanderson.

Ali G?  What a complete and total waste of air time.  Please tell me
there is more intellect than that in this group.

Ali G's movie was pretty rubbish. Some of his other stuff though is
genius in parts.

Sounds like something one might ask for in a public restroom in the
middle of the night...

1. What do you mean by that?
2. How did you come to that conclusion?

This should be stunning.
