I selling off my collection of vintage Ferrari shirts.  Mostly
stuff from the early '90s including a couple of 1991 USGP shirts.  A
list of my auctions is at:

How can something be *new* and *vintage* at the same time?

They were bought back in the early '90s and never worn thus
they are brand new.  They're old enough to be considered vintage.
Kind of like New Old Stock.  I used NEW and VINTAGE in my titles to
get more hits on the ebay search engine.  Also NEW and VINTAGE helps
distinguish them from cheap unauthorized knock-offs that many others
sell.

Hey there, C - what happened at Lime Rock?  (Sorry if it makes you go
"aargh" - and if you already mentioned something here and I didn't catch
it).  I watched the coverage and saw you DNS'd.

Those Audis look pretty tough now that they kind of de-balled the CTS-Vs ...

Not much.

<<Sorry if it makes you go "aargh" >>

It's not the highlight of my racing career.

<<I watched the coverage and saw you DNS'd.>>

But you missed the part where I DNQ?

I have to remember to take Tom Hnatiw, the World Challenge announcer, a beer at
the next race. When he introduced the field, instead of saying that I DNQ, he
said that my car wouldn't start the race because my Crew Chief broke the car
during the warm-up. That was true and not true, but was about the nicest way
that he could say it. At least, nicest for me. <g>

I DNQ, but we were talking about the car starting with my Crew Chief driving.
He took the car out in the warm up, but it wasn't his fault that it broke. He
was coming down the Diving Turn onto the front straight when the left, rear
control arm broke. He was lucky to keep it off the wall. Funny thing was, he
didn't realize at first what had happened. He figured that he'd just made a
mistake and gone off track. He almost finished another lap before the bad
handling and the smoke from the tires rubbing on the body work had filled the
cockpit and convinced him that something was wrong.

We spent two days testing at Mid-Ohio last week and the car is at Ford right
now having a new clutch and diff installed. Hopefully we'll be able to get more
power down and I'll have a chance at the next race.

You didn't see the sand trickling out the back of Angelelli and Pilgrim's cars?
There's no telling what would have happened if the race hadn't ended under
yellow, but I'd bet a month's worth of Diet Coke that GM was planning on having
both Caddie drivers on podium.

They began their march thru the field about 15 laps before the end of the race.
Once they began their move, they just started slipping by the other cars like
they were standing still. Lime Rock is known for being a very difficult track
to pass on, but the Caddies managed to BOTH pass McClure in one corner.

Expect more of that at Mid-Ohio.

Cool. Sorry I can't add you to our crew list, but we've got a number of people
from Ford and Tremec coming to this race and we're full up. I'm checking to see
if we can use a few spots on someone else's list. If we can, I'll let you know.
Or have you already bought tickets?

That's almost never good. Am I safe in assuming that you're not posting from a
hospital bed?

Already bought tickets, which reminds me... Gotta find 'em.

I'm okay, displayed my fine detective skills riding along at
60mph thinking "gosh it sure is windy now, bike's all over
the place..." Eventually I realized as my wobbles worsened
that my back tire was probably going flat. Slower, slower,
slower still with the bike wanting to fishtail I limped it to a
nearby elementary school. By that point the rear tire was
off the bead, with maybe ten pounds of air in the tube.

After a three hour ordeal in 89 degree heat I got the thing
back home in a borrowed truck.

She needed tires anyway.

You and my Crew Chief can share tales of your respectively brilliant
observation skills over a beer at  Mid-Ohio.
