53 posts - down to 6/WTF?

Is there that much bloody sh.t pouring into Usenet these days?  I start
up the 'ol browser after three or four days of not being there, and the
news reader says 53 posts, then when it actually loads headers I get 6.
I check Google, that's all there truly are.

1.  WTF is going on?  I want to say my newsreader is doing a great job
clearing out the spammies, but then how come 2 of the 6 that *do* get
through are entitled "Monica Lewinsky bl.wj.b pics" and "This will cheer
you up -"?  I never did get around to loading Agent ... one of these
days when I'm not so busy ...

2.  That is all you guys had to say after all these days?  What about
the Suzuka race? (that I slept through, then through the replay - not
one of my shining wonderful weekends ... all I could do is weakly look
up from the pillow, wipe away the drool, and chirp "yeah!  Michael" then
back to sleepy-time)

Your own torpor when presented with a staggeringly domineering F1
performance by Ferrari matches this group's well-renowned F1-apathy
exquisitely...

Not only did Schumacher and his Ferrari lead from flag to flag, but he
wasn't passed for the lead even when pitting _3_ times for fuel.

There were NO lead changes whatsoever.

No dry practice, no Saturday practice, mostly wet same day qualifying
sessions:  And Ferrari and Schumacher deliver an almost perfect race:
Pole, P1, and the win, with Rubens taking fastest lap.

...Staggering.

Imagine, if they *hadn't* stopped developing the car several races
ago...

(Rubens being Coultharded while charging through the pack was all too
predictable.)

I watched the typhoon coverage/non-qualifying, and the race-day
qualifying, religiously ... then the torpor came, and I succumbed just
in time for race time.  I saw the start, then went swimming ... it was
all very sucko.  I wish I hadn't.  I'll go to the amphetamines for
Adelaide if I have to.

Melbourne, and that's a long time to stay awake...  March 6, 2005.

Next, and last, race is Brazil, Oct. 24:  Should be around 11am-ish
for you West Coast types, a late-morning cappuccino should do it.

...I'm not sure if Rubens has ever *finished* his home race, it might
be too much to hope for a win.

And then, yesterday:

"Ahead of the last Grand Prix, which is Barrichello's home race,
Schumacher is frequently asked whether he will help his team mate to
victory in Brazil. 'Rubens is a very talented driver and has
demonstrated this over the course of this year and last. I am sure
that he would prefer to win alone rather than receive anybody’s help.
Each of us will run our own race and we’ll see how it turns out.'"

anybody’s help."

...Is this Schmuck suddenly on drugs?

Can ya believe it?  When I go, I go.

I've done it before and I can do it again.

I believe I'll manage on regular black joe.  Not much for the Starbucks
routine.

Getting a bit peckish, isn't he?

Uhg...  What do pimply kids from Seattle know of cappuccino?

...*They* probably serve it after elevenses.

I would say peevish, but your point is well made.

"Peckish" means hungry.

Not mostly:

peckish (pèk´îsh) adjective
1.    Ill-tempered; irritable.
2.    Chiefly British. Somewhat hungry.

viz

peevish (pê´vîsh) adjective
1.    a. Querulous or discontented. b. Ill-tempered.
2.    Contrary; fractious.

I stand corrected.

Well .... it's the English version, innit?  Then again, "peckish" might
have drinking involved in it.  I don't drink any more, so I wouldn't
know such terms.

Peckish means hungry. For food. Not sex, drugs, booze etc. You COULD say you
were peckish for a beer and a bl.wj.b, but that would be taking it out of
the common useage.

Besides - I most wanted to read your most excellent recap anyway!

My cable went out and I couldn't watch the race. Speaking of races... the last
World Challenge race of the season will be live on SPEED this Sunday at 1pm
EST. I seriously doubt you'll see my car at any time, but it should be an
interesting race anyway.

Oops! That's 1 pm PST, not Eastern. The Touring Car race is on at 10 am , I
believe.

BTW, I knocked 2 seconds off my time from yesterday. Today, I did not suck!
Yay, me! <g>

Hmmmm ... I saw your car once, and it looked like your best lap time was
only about 3 1/2 seconds off the leaders.  Derek Bell sure didn't have a
great day ... or Andy Pilgrim, putting one of the CTSVs into the wall.

I could have sworn I saw that there were a couple of Porsche 928s
entered?  Was that a typo?  I never saw one on the track.  Those are old
cars, they can still hang in a race like that?

<<Hmmmm ... I saw your car once, and it looked like your best lap time was only

Not quite. Pole was a 1:31and I qualified at a 1:37.4. My best time during the
race was a 1:38.

<<Derek Bell sure didn't have a great day ...>>

I was directly behind him on the grid. I've got video of him running over that
Corvette.

<<I could have sworn I saw that there were a couple of Porsche 928s entered?

One of them can. Mark Anderson's car ran a :35.38 in qualifying. Mark Kibort
only managed a :41.25. Not sure if Anderson is running nitrous or something in
his car, but it scoots for a 10 yr old + Porch. They're both nice guys who live
in between Laguna and Sears Pt. Those are the only two races that they run and
they just come out to World Challenge for the fun of it.
