Wow.

That's a huge wing. It's look good on a track, but what's
up with the antenna being front row center? It makes the
thing look like an RC car. Additional vents, louvers, and
assorted body bits don't look bad. Again the wing...

Shields? Why do they insist on putting shields on everything
now?!

All in all, I guess if I saw it on the track I'd like it, but seeing
one in a street setting I'd feel more like looking away out of
embarrassment. Whatever happened to styling?

Well - it is a racing car, has raced in several prominent series, etc.
It's also built pretty much to racing specs.  That said, I'd not want
shields on a street 550 or 575.

Please look closer gentlemen.

That ..."thing", is not a decommissioned racing car.

Someone is selling Jen-YOU-Wine street 550s which have riced-up - yes,
I said RICED, and I meant it ...SEE, it has a WING - to only LOOK like
Prodrive actual bleedin' bloody racing 550s.

<<Shields? Why do they insist on putting shields on everything now?!>>

The Factory does it, so now everyone thinks it's OK.

<<That's a huge wing.>>

So are you against wings on street cars completely? The wing on that 550 looks
like it might actually be functional. Although nobody should be driving on the
street in any manner in which they would need a wing like that.

I don't like fake scoops and doodads on cars, including useless wings. Simple
spoilers that are clearly added only for looks don't bother me much and, in
fact, I think some car designs practically cry out for one, but phony wings
that sit a foot below the roofline are just a drag.

So is that why you haven't said anything about our '05 car yet? You think it
sux and don't want to hurt my feelings? <sniffle>

Well, it's like this, ya see...

There you go. Said it for me. A huge wing in a track setting
looks like it belongs there. A huge wing on the freeway looks
like a tacky add-on.

Chicks man, I swear... <g>

I really like the '05 styling. The lines could have easily been spoiled,
making a cartoonish caricature of a '67. Somehow they pulled it off.

As for _your_ '05, it's pretty bitchin'. I'd cruise it, no question.

Is it going to replace your '95 model? :-)

-Matt- "Somehow I doubt it."

Watch it there, buddy, or I'll have your wife shopping for minivans for you.

Speaking of cartoonish, have you seen the white car with red stripes from the
SEMA show? They blew the fenders out and added something like 22" wheels. The
thing looked ridiculous.

Thank you, thank you. Finally. And, no, it won't replace my '95. But not
because I don't want it. I would love to drive this car, but it's not mine.
Belongs to Tiger Racing, just like the race cars do. It will be sold at the end
of next year. I can't complain too much though. The profit will go towards my
racing.

Now _that's_ a Bimmer that holds my interest.

I like it.  I really like the new Mustangs.  And I LOVE that new
commercial with the guy building the racetrack in his cornfield so Steve
McQueen will come and drive his new Mustang.  Awesome, I got goosebumps.

The new ones - stock - sound sweet.  I'll bet yours really howls.

Do you recognize the track? That's basically Willow Springs.

<<The new ones - stock - sound sweet.  I'll bet yours really howls.>>

I was surprised at how good these things sound stock. With the Bassani Xhaust
on ours, it's actually too quiet at idle, but my Crew Chief tells me it sounds
great when it's working. StopTech Brakes have been using our car for testing
for a few days. I haven't been at the track while they were working. I'm still
waiting to hear this thing. Let alone, drive it.
