If we were only neighbors, I have no doubt I could repair it.
Let me ask you a technical question. The Bosch FI system on our cars
is pretty bullet proof, although not very modifiable by comparison to
what's available in today's market. But after doing some reading,
I've learned that the system will self adjust fuel given load and air
supply conditions. It doesn't have a chip that could be changed or
reprogrammed, but its internal "maps" have enough bandwidth to handle
the processing and adjustments required to deliver more fuel for an
increase in demand.
Which brings me to my question. Have you or that crew chief you hang
out with ever do any mods to the throttle body on any of your cars,
race or street? It would seem that an increase in the diameter of the
throttle body would deliver more air, to which the FI system will
deliver more fuel, and could probably result in an additonal 15-20hp
or so for a realtively cheap investment which would also be an easily
reversible modification.
See my private email to you for for an addiitonal comment on this.

He would tell you that I'm *Just the Driver* and I'm not really allowed to play
with the tools. Although I'm really very good at taking things apart and I did
understand everything you just said. I'll still let him answer your question.

He replied to your e-mail, but I'll post his answer here, too, for the benefit
of all. If anyone else is interested.

...one of the things we ran into with boring the throttle bodies, depending on
the car, is that some injection systems will not compensate with more fuel. It
flows more air, but the computer doesn't know, so it goes lean. Or we have had
idle rolls, were it works fine through the range, but the idle circuit is
getting more fuel and will either idle higher, or the computer compensates and
it goes up then down, then up, etc. giving you that wandering or searching. Or
with regard to idle, the TPS sensor then becomes out of range, throwing the
computer off.
And then some cars work just fine with no issues. I can tell you that on a 225
hp Mustang, we only saw 6hp at 6000 rpm with a bore increased 5mm.

Wow ... I immediately nominate him as Group Technical Advisor (GTA - has
a cool ring to it). Get him a notebook with wireless net access.
