Harold Adrain Russell Philby - 08 Dec 2004 06:39 GMT I've sold the beloved Integra and have inherited an Accord:
Does anyone know how to spell "Granny Panties" in Italian?

A friend and I chased it into a parking lot on our bikes: In my youthful ignorance I asked the owner if it was a Lusso, his scumbag nitwit passenger replied, in that laconic faux-uppercrust drawl that to this day makes me want to practice reverse dentistry, "No; it's a Fehw-ra-hrii..."
...Contrary to Mike I still think its a GREAT car, and one of the *most* desirable Ferraris (I'd kill any three of you for a 330-GTS).

I fail, most of the time, but I try. Now that *is* a Ferrari, and I wouldn't necessarily kick it out of my driveway, but that is one ugly car. It reminds me of something I might see south of the border. Toss some sidepipes on it and plant a couple of those pipe-organ type stereo speakers in the rear deck (if there is one), and you've got the perfect cruiser for a Friday night on Avenida La Revolucion.
With all apologies, because I know I'm putting my a.s to the flame again. Can't help it.

I'm sure your mother is a wonderful, wonderful person. And I do hope over the years she's retained a sense of her origins, her ethnicity, because I do believe that is important. And as soon as I move out of this godforsaken area, I know will begin to lose the hostility (I better or I will have to start the killing). All my life I have been proud to be a racially tolerant, gentle, sensitive person who tried to accommodate anything and everybody. I think I can go back to that with a change of scenery.
SO GET OFF MY GODDAMNED BACK OR I'LL SMOKE YOU LIKE A BRISKET!!!
(Oops, a little slip-up there. As I was saying - gentle, sensitive ...)
Anyway, make sure you show your mom this, too. If she doesn't take kindly to any of it, mention my Tourette's.

...It's a bloody abortion.
Does anyone know, or can point me to a reference: Were Michelotti's independent "designs" popular in their day, or have they always been considered crude, heavy-handed, dis-proportionate, and overwrought?
The very front end, lifted, as it is appears, directly from the '67 Camaro, is the only aspect which doesn't *completely* revolt.
No mystery that it's spent its life in California since being defiled.

The only redeeming features are some interior elements, everything else is a disaster. It's by far the worst Ferrari I've ever driven. Ever. The body work is as heavy as it looks, it corners like a Greyhound Bus and people avert their eyes as you pass.

Check out the asking price on this one in 1989. I know the owner of that time well and he turned down a $1.4m offer at Pebble Beach. It's now for sale for $125k on the east coast. Frankly, I can't imagine why anyone would want to own it. I had a buyer nearly take it for $495k. He wanted to have a "one of a kind" Ferrari. Sadly, for me, his wife saw it and stopped him.

In the 60s and 70s they were all that (his designs for Austin and Triumph were absolutely freakish). His work with Vignale in the 1950s was splendid. He should have stopped there. If you want to see his good stuff Marcel Massini's "Ferrari By Vignale" is a great album.

I always think Corvair when I see s/n 9083. Someone came into the shop one day and said to me "I didn't know you worked on Chevys".

Take the nose from an Opel Manta, the back half of a '55 Studebaker President Speedster, mix in a little 240Z, and BAM! Instant ugly.
Funny, considering I like those three cars a good bit.

It was 1991 at the apex of the crazy time in the Ferrari world when "Custom Coachwork" no matter how bizzare was the Flavor of the Month. Poor Gary had a Million dollar cash offer on the car and turned it down. He's regreted it to this day and I'm sure for the rest of his life.
