As a warm up to the Ottawa Exotic & Race Car Parade weekend event, the
organizer is showing off the 1980 Ferrari 312 driven by Gilles Villeneuve
tomorrow, Friday, 27May05 at 12:15 to 1:00 pm at Johnny Guido's (Preston
and George).

Guido's has a large patio with lots of tables with umbrellas. They have a
deli counter, coffee, and assorted drinks. They are opposite Sakto's
construction site so there might be some dust and noise. Sakto's got a
1200 spot parking garage with entrance on Rochester just up Aberdeen.

SHAMELESS COMMERCIAL PLUG:
If you view the www.corsoitalia.net/exotic webpage for info about the
weekend event, please plug the google ads so we can put some pennies in
our pocket. Couldn't hurt. Thanks.

Just looking at the 312 reminds you that one accident
could cost you your legs...

Granted you can still get skewered by a strut in the new
cars but in the old 312 your legs _were_ the crumple zone...

Scary stuff...

Nothing to worry about in that car.  The 1980 car didn't go fast enough
to hurt anyone...

IIRC the 1980 car was one of the worst the team produced wasn't it? I think
they came 10th in the constructors championship that year having won the
championship with pretty much the same car the previous season!

 Sorry you’re not very happy with my car. Yes, it was a pig to
drive that year but it was still faster than the T4. The problem was
that Ferrari chose to concentrate on developing their turbo car so
only made a small evolution to the T4. Unfortunately, everybody else
made a big leap, putting them into the middle of the pack. Remember,
Ferrari didn’t win another drivers championship until 2000--a long dry
spell.

Anyway, I hope you got to hear and see it run in the speed event
Sunday. Hope that made up for its poor race history. With good fan
support, we’ll be back next year.

Hi Bud,

Sorry I disrespected your T4! No matter its performance its still a Ferrari
F1 car and for many of us that makes it priceless. Many Ferrari's, road or
track, haven't been the best in their league (just look at this years
F2005!) but the fact they are all part of the Ferrari legend which is one of
failures as well as triumphs is what is important. The fact that Gilles
drove the car makes it even more special!

All the best in your endeavours!
