The new Superamerica ?????

The Dream - 17 Jun 2005 05:31 GMT The new Autoweek has the 2006 Ferrari "Superamerica" on the cover. I'm sorry. I hated the 550 Barchetta and I still do. I've never seen anything but a gray-haired wannabe-lothario driving one. And now the new "Superamerica". Not much different, rear sections looks like steroids were used. YUCK! What a way to f.ck up a decent 575M.

What a bummer today - Varsha's voice is a mere croak! That's what you get from doing everything from Speed News Sunday to F1 to Hooter's Grandma's Cookies 500 (in the same weekend, usually). I hope he recovers for qualifying and the Big Show Sunday. He shouldn't be talking now.
What a weekend ... F1 Indy, Le Mans, even some Grand Am in there. It's a tradition with me to watch every minute of Le Mans coverage, live. This weekend Nextel Cup gets the boot.

Since you admit you don't like the Barchetta purely because you imagine you loath the people you see driving them: What did you do in the Seventies and Eighties, when every 3x8 came with a unbuttoned to the waist Quiana shirt and a Mr. T Jewelry starter set? ...And how can you adore the latter TR, which's greatest claim to fame is co-starring in one of the lamest TV series ever, alongside two of the worst actors, and scumbags, to ever claim the avocation?
Much better to embrace the Barchetta and the 3x8 for what they are, and loath the TR for everything it isn't.

Hey, to each his own! I'm just guilty of blasting people over their personal preferences as the next guy. I can't stand that car, that's all there is to it - for me.
Thought for sure you'd be at the USGP.

If the USGP were still held in September I would be going.

Just so you don't fart around there past October, buying oceanfront property and 250 GTOs. But while you are there do look into Edna Valley Vineyard's Pinot Noir, also any red from Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyards. Go to Cambria, too. You won't want to leave. But you better.

You'll have to come out to Monterey next. That way we can have a propper meal as I'm sure we'll not find one in Duffin's neighborhood.

:-( I know, we'll miss seeing the Chapparal as a featured marque, but I'm assuming you guys go every year anyway to show cars from the collection so we can certainly do it up right in 2006. I'm sorry if I didn't let you know beforehand, my mistake...
Apparently the October USA/UK Pub Run is definitely a go, we just have to nail down the date, so hopefully we'll all be swilling Leffe in a pub somewhere in Limey-Land in a few months anyway... :-)

The bad news is that it will not be running against the Scarabs, so my Crew Chief can't outdo his drive from a few yrs ago and kick Redman's a.s. The good news is that the car has been moved to a group where we can run the *good* tyres.
<<but I'm assuming you guys go every year anyway to show cars from the collection so we can certainly do it up right in 2006.>>
Pretty much. Of course, you could just come here and check out the whole collection at once. Not in motion or anything, but they look pretty amazing even sitting still.

Yeah... about that... um.... is everyone set on October of this year? No chance that ya'll might consider pushing it back until, say, April of '06? There is no way that I can make it this year, but we are definitely planning a trip overseas next year. Frankly, I just hate the thought of all of you getting together and having fun without me. I'm selfish that way. And whiny. Imagine how whiny I can be.

I'm racing the weekend of the 16th of October (also my b-day). I may also be getting married some weekend in October. It's not a good month to make travel plans out of the country.
<<I already got a passport and I want to burn a Limey hole in it.>>
When we got back from England last August, I promptly lost my brand new passport. I'm bummed about losing the visas inside. I remember flipping thru my dad's passport as a kid and daydreaming about all the places he'd been to represented by those brightly coloured stamps. I'll never travel as much as he did, so each of my visas are going to mean more.

I gotta admit I laughed out loud (seriously, I didn't just want to type "lol" or "roflmao", it actually happened) reading that last bit. It won't be quite the same without you, that's for sure.
Pushing this thread even further off-topic, I made it to the Vintage GP at Mid-Ohio on the 26th. Still being half sick I spent some serious time in the shade after heat exhaustion set in early on. After dousing myself liberally with cold (and pricey!) bottled water I rejoined my group and had a great time, in between chugging water and re-dousing myself.
Healey and Porch were the featured marques and were well represented.
You know who had absolutely no presence at all..?
Ferrari! Not one! Not a 308, 328, 330, etc. to be found!
Also, no Maseratis! None! No Ghiblis, Boras, race cars, nothing!
Plus, no Lambos! Nada! I at least saw a Urraco on the freeway when we went to the USGP farce, but nothing at the vintage races. Granted, they don't really have a racing history, but what do you expect from a tractor company that is owned by Audi now...
There was one hideous fright pig of a Pantera, and some nice Alfas, but nothing exotic in the production cars.
There were a couple of Lolas though... Gorgeous!
Plenty of Lotus eye candy too, especially some of the race cars. They still epitomize the idea of "simplicate and add lightness"...
Oh yeah, one Mustang II (Ghia) in bright yellow with the rare Landau roof option... I don't understand...
It was 95 degrees out, but still you'd think there'd be a 308 or something present... At least in the parking lots... Oh well.

That's what we were thinking. Hey, EuroPaul, is this enough lead time to get you there at the same time? You're always traveling about. Can you travel all the way to Italy in April? Of course, that doesn't get you out of coming back across the Great Water, too.
