I've just bought an S plate punto 60 selecta, the 1.2 model. I've
noticed that ocassionally wnen going at about 25 - 30 mph the car
wobbles noticeably from side to side in a see-saw motion, it stops as
speed increases.

Can anyone tell me if this normal -- i.e, a characteristic of the auto
transmission, or if not, if anyone else experienced this could you shed
some light please.

Cheers.

I assume youve checked the tyres?
It sounds like the kindof thing thathappens when you have got an 'out of
round tyre'
This can be not obvious if you dont know what you are looking for, but its
easy to check.
Jack up each corner of the car one at a time and spin the wheel. Mind your
fingers on the struts, bodywork etc. The tyre should look completely round,
with no wobblyness etc.

I once bought a newmotor that had 4 brand new tyres on it but it wobbled
like a bugger, when I took it to work and stuck it on the ramp one of the
tyres had a bulge in the tread area of the tyre 2 inches high.On brand new
Pirellis!

Give it a try

cheers Ben, I'm sure you're right, at least I hope so. The used dealer
I bought the car from has agreed to correct the problem so I'll post
the result later

Thanks

Update.

Turns out the back tyres were wrecked, probly because the previous
owner was driving it with only 10 psi in each tyre !  Nothing like good
regular maintenance eh?

Drives fine now with 2 new tyres.

Cheers
