Hi guys, the air bag warning light on the instrument panel stays on all
time. Someone says only the sensor at fault, but bag will still work. Can
any knowledgeable soul out there verify this, and is there any way of
fixing it without expensive repairs. Dealer reckons about 400 to 500 to
fix - ouch ! Thanks, Billywizz

Without knowing the code for fault there is no easy way of determining what
the problem is and which component is at fault.
You may find that an independent garage will read the fault and quote a
different price.
There are also some independent "scan tools" available for use with a PC.
ELM interface equipment is common. There are others. They cost around £100
(UK pounds) and should be able to diagnose the fault. Once this has been
diagnosed then the replacment parts and service costs come into play.
If you can tease the exact fault out of the dealer and the part(s) they
propose to replace then I can at least verify the parts price (year 06/2004)
and give an estimate of the time required to replace and test the fixed
system.

There is sometimes a connector under the drivers seat which may need
reseating or cleaning, causes airbag fault light.
Might be worth trying - but I assume the battery needs to be disconnected !
