You can get a little neon ignition test lamp from accessory shops.
It goes in series with a plug, you can move it from plug to plug,
if you wish. Lift lead off plug, plug neon tester on plug put plug
lead on neon tester. When/if plug sparks, neon flashes. Best
done in dark as neon flash isn't very bright at cranking speed,
but it tests the HT system.
Get some appropriatly sized tubing, plastic or rubber, remove
pipe from output of fuel pump, attach tube, other end in a jar,
crank, is fuel being delivered into jar?
Best done outside fuel vapour is flammable so take appropriate
precautions. No fuel = no start, no spark = no start.
The spark testing neon also tests that the ECU is firing the
coil. So it also tests the main sensors, such as the magnetic
pickup that times everything.
Because the neon is faint in daylight I use a xenon timing
light, but the principle is the same.
Post back here if the above doesn't solve it.
Lack of fuel isn't always the fuel pump.
Check that the earth strap/wire to the engine/gearbox is properly connected
at both ends.
