Hello,

Give me your opinion about the Great Multipla

I used to have a 110JTD as my company car.

It was great, average 43mpg over 26000 miles and reasonably comfortable -
I'd buy one if I had the money.

The only bad bits was the ventilator fan broke after 25000 miles (9 months
old) and neither a 'normal' garage or Fiat specialist could solve the
problem of the 'humidity in diesel filter' message sometimes displayed in
the centre info panel.

The good bits outweigh the bad - buy one!

have a look in http://www.carsurvey.org/model_Fiat_Multipla.html -

I left a full report there at http://www.carsurvey.org/review_18989.html

car in the garage and they gave us a punto, for a family of 2 kids and baby.
We can't wait to get the car back.
We tested all of the model mpv's etc, the multipla came out best on
everyhting.
Its ugly----------- but only to those on the outside.
you dont see it when you drive it.
All our friends KNOW when we are on the road, everybody spots us first, and
when on holiday multipla drivers all let on , its like a club.
When we sell we are definitely getting another one even after the problems
with our warranty issues.

Well, we've had a 1.9JTDMulti from new (02) - car has been
fine-ish, but the Fiat service agent is s--t! ; report a fault, wait
two months for them to do nothing - then it's returned
with x4 problems, caused in the main, by poor workmanship!
Hmmm.

Here's a few faults of ours for your enjoyment ...

1) Both front drop-links failed.
2) windscreen washer jets vanish regularly (3x sets so far).
3) Rusting sun-roof surround (from inside - new one fitted)
4) Rattling from inside headtrim & doors?!! (a years worth of agro that)
5) Banging from rear suspension (any thoughts - agent has no idea?)
6) Hand-brake boots fell off - repaired badly by agent, then dropped
onto exhaust causing cable to melt through. Yohoho...
Shame that, a few cable-ties would have fixed it!
7) Frustration - Hours of driving back and forth to agent.

Would I buy another Multi?

Yes, if I could find one (with a 10 year warranty)

;-)

I could have told you that!  We are also a family of 5 - I had a JTD110 as a
company car in 2001 - great apart from the 'humidity in diesel fuel filter'
warning beep (fixed 3 times) , the rear window trim falling off, the
ventilator fan stopping after 9 months and the windscreen washer cap
breaking off and going missing.  I had it for 9 months/28,000 miles.

Since moving job, I really miss it, but will actually put money where mouth
is and BUY one in 18 months! (long story!)

Great car - but buy the ugly one, not the new one that has a normal bonnet
and conventional grille.  (Don't tell me you didn't know....)

We are also a family of 5 and owned two Multipla (jtd105 & jtd 115) since
1999 ... The Multipla is really a great car.
We still love it .With 3 children, it's the best car. ... Try it and you

My 3 year old Multipla has 100,000 km and is a dream come true. Sure there
are problems, but going to the importers garage has proven the solution. Not
the approved garages that want to learn on my model. Enjoy, I am!!
