Hi, thanks for reading!

I need a key for my Marea. I have the red one. Is there an independent
that supplies these or is it back to a main dealer?

If as I suspect the latter is the case, how much will they charge for
the device?

I got one one cut on the spot at my local cobbler ( sorry - shoe
repairing operative) for £20 :-)

Don't know how common this is, but I live out in the sticks and at least
it shows you don't have to go to the Fiat dealer.

Cheers

Where did you obtain the blank, how did you program it?

The cobbler supplied the blank and did the job for £20. He seemed to
think it was all perfectly normal.

A Marea, are you sure?    What about the security system?

Yes, I'm sure.

The car is a W reg Marea 115 ELX. I gave him the red key and he cut and
programmed a new blue key. It's worked perfectly for a year now. Without
the red key it would be completely impossible even for a Fiat dealer to
do it - the engine management unit would have to be replaced.

With the red key it's not rocket science. He claimed he could do Fords
and one or two others. If you're absolutely desperate, I could give you
his address - it's perfectly respectable and he's been in business there
for years.

Cheers

Many thanks for clarifying things. When you said he was a cobbler, i
conjoured up an image of a character in a small workshop with a
carousel of assorted blanks from the year dot.

I did get a quote and £20-00 is a great deal less expensive than a
Fiat dealer charges.

Mind you, I had the good luck to find my key in one of my companies
vehicles, so until I lose it again I'll postpone the purchase.

Many thanks for your help Dave. I came very close to asking you for
the address, but fortunately my local publican will get the cash
instead :-)

Regards

If you need the RC fob key (blue with remote control button) then its a main
dealer job. I don't know how much Fiat charge but when my Pug 306's failed
it was ?60 (luckily covered by the warranty).
