Can anyone provide instuctions for programming the key fob for my 1997
Explorer.
I replaced the batteries in the key fob that hasn't worked for a while.
The doors do not open.  I remember something about turning the key in
the ignition on and off five times but don't remember all the details.
Is it possible to program one key fob from the other working unit?

Thanks in advance

For my '98 4.0 SOHC it goes like this:
Switch the ignition on/off/on/off 8 times in 10 secs ending in the on
position (I think). If you do this correctly all the door locks will cycle
on the last turn of the key. When the locks have cycled quickly press any
button on the 'new' key fob to register it with your truck's system. There's
a time limit on this, so do it quickly. The locks should cycle again and
that's it.
Hope this helps

also most salesmen at Ford Dealerships usually know how to reprogram them
in a matter of seconds...I had to have a replacement remote reprogrammed
when my dealership couldn't provide me with the second one, after I bought
it....and they reprogrammed it for free too!
