Replacing the pan is not a big deal, but find the source of the leak
first.
To replace the oil pan gasket on my '97 AWD V8 it was going to cost
$485 at the dealer. According to the factory repair manual you have to
pull the engine. Obviously for $485 Ford figured out a slightly easier
method, which is why I went to them instead of the garage that wanted
to do it for $900 (again, without pulling the engine). As it turns
out, it was the rear main seal, so it cost me a bunch more anyway. If
it's not leaking much, I'd leave it alone. Mine had a constant drip.
