2002 Ex. 4.6.  Service engine soon lite came on at 35675 miles. I have done
all warranty maint. already. What should I check for now?  How do I cancel
this light?

Go to Autozone and let them read the code.  Then you can decide what to do
from there!

The light has nothing to do with mileage or scheduled maintenance. It
indicates that the ECM (computer) detected a problem. Have it scanned for
trouble codes, diagnosed and repaired.
But before you spend any money, there is one thing you can do: check that
the fuel cap is tight. A loose fuel cap will set a trouble code and turn on
the CEL. If that was the problem, the light will turn off after a few drive
cycles. This is mentioned in your user's manual.

My '05 Limited shows a message "change oil soon", starts long before
time for oil change and sometimes chimes when it appears.  I got so
sick of it I finally reset the oil change to stop it.  Note that I am
very careful to change oil when needed, but I don't need to be nagged
by my vehicle.

Check your owners manual... IIRC, the interval can be changed to suit your
preferences.
