If it has been so long you don't remember, you should probably drain,
flush and fill with new coolant.  Corrosion inhibitors do wear out and
it's not worth taking a chance.

i have heard that antifreeze that has never been used (still in  container)
will always be OK, regardless of how old it is.

is this true??

I had about four new gallons of Texaco antifreeze that was over fifteen
years old, maybe close to twenty, and I asked the same question.  I
received mixed responses and decided not to use it just in case.

My neighbor snatched it up when I told him I was going to take it to our
neighborhood recycling  center.  He has been using it in his vehicles
without trouble ever since.  I don't go through that much coolant and
don't regret not using it in my vehicle.

Good luck,

Steven
