Hi, I have a 1996 Ford Explorer witha 5.0L V8. I had a bad drive unit, it
had a bushing that was sqeeking. I have pulled it and now need to install
the new one. How do i time it?

I believe you mean the camshaft position sensor it sits where a
distributor used to sit.
I replaced mine not too long ago. Did you set the # 1 cylinder to 0
degrees TDC on the compression stroke, and made note of the positon of
the camshaft sensor eletrical connector when you pulled the bad one?
Much easier to install the new one and setup if you did. There is an
alignment tool when installing but I didn't use one, if you're careful
with removal and installation you don't need one. It was rather easy
to install since I lined everything up ahead of time.
