I'm thinking of replacing the factory headunit in my '05 Explorer
XLT...it does not eject CDs on demand and is out of warranty. It
currently has the standard AM/FM, single CD system with factory sub.
Does anyone know for certain if this system has an external factory amp
which drives the four 5x7/6x8 door speakers?  If so, replacing the HU
is going to involve more work than I anticipated since I will neeed to
either run new speaker wires or tap into the existing ones somwehere
after the factory amp.

Thanks!

While audiophiles don't like them, Crutchfield.com has a great website for
figuring out what you need to replace your factory head unit with an
aftermarket one.  The website can tell you, and sell you, any wiring
harnesses needed to make your system work with a new unit.
