i recently purchased a 97 mercury mountaineer.  my mechanic switched
out the engine and replaced it with a 'pp ford explorer.

this has to be the dumbest move he ever made because he had to change
everything in the dash board...the wiring...parts of the transmission,
the computer key ignition.

with difficulties over the past year it is finally running ok.

i am trying to change the gas filter.  would anyone happen to know
where it is on a ford explorer '99 engine?

It should be underneath the vehicle mounted on the chassis beneath the
drivers seat area.
