Just curious- anyone know what's the typical mileage before a valve job
is needed? The original OHV V6 has cast iron heads, the SOHC has
aluminum heads.  In ancient times, seems like it was normal to do a
valve job at 100,000 miles.  I recall being amazed at the condition of
the valves in the first aluminum head I saw- apparently they run
cooler.

Have never heard of a fixed target.  I had a '92 OHV, ran it 185,000
and never touched the engine.  My son now has my '99 SOHC, it has
about 140,000 and engine never touched.  I can't recall much talk in
this group about valve problems.

A guy at work has one with over 400K on the original engine.
