Hot 6 CD player

I just returned from a 1200 mile round trip, driving our 2001 Sport Trac. We
played the 6 - CD player the entire way. After playing the CDs, then
exchanging them out, they were so hot they could barely be handled by hand.
In addition, the player itself was fairly hot when you touched the front of
it. The material the CDs are made of must be fairly heat resistant because
they didn't appear to be damaged.
Has any one else witnessed this with the  6 CD player in their Ford product?

Our old '98 factory disc/tape player would warm up a disc in an hour.

Especially if you live where I do and spend a lot of time with the
defrosters running...... single disc or 6 stacker doesn't make much
difference. There is an update with a small PC type fan in the top....... it
is enough to keep the dreaded "CD HOT" message from appearing but still not
enough to make the CDs any more comfortable to handle....

We've replaced many under warranty but they need to display the "CD HOT"
message and refuse to play the disc. These radios are very 'smart" and I'm
not brave enough to see if we can BS a warranty repair...

They must have updated it for 2002 or beyond.  I took my '02 EB on a
seven-hour drive in the middle of last summer, and its 6-CD changer didn't
get more than barely warm.

My '99 XLT's single CD/cassette unit always got hotter.
