Hi,

I found the identification number and it was exactly where you good folks
said it would be.  Now, if anyone can help with this, I would like to know
where I might be able to research this number in terms of what the original
components of this engine were when manufactured.

Thanks
Jordan

Post it here and I will see if I can decode it for you Jordan.
I assume you want to know inlet manifold/carb config + heads etc?

Other numbers that are more helpful in determining this stuff are the
actual part numbers, the inlet manifold will have it cast onto one of
the runners, heads from memory are cast into the rocker base area
(have to take a rocker cover off) block from memory is on a small
raised pad near the starter motor.

Look for part numbers that start with somehting like C1DE which could
be preceeded with AR but unlikely.

Hi,

Ok, the number is C5AE-6015E.  If you are able to help, that would be
greatly appreciated.  I will look for those other numbers as well.

Thanks,
Jordan

C5AE decodes as

C (decade)  = 60's
5 (year in decade) - 5
A = generic component meaning it could go in Falcon/Mustang/Fairlane
etc
E = Engine  department

6015 is the basic part number for a Windsor block

E is the revision number of the block.

So your engine isn't the original as it was built in 65 which would
almost certainly make it a 289 block.

The heads and intake will have similar numbers, more than likely its a
2bbl carb if its original with relatively small combustion chambers.
