Can anyone tell us how to remove the large "finned" plastic ring?

Can't tell if it should screw off, bayonet, or clip off, don't want to break
anything.

Any help and tips re: changing pump appreciated.

You have to undo the big hose clamp and unscrew the cap. To do the same job,
I used a big flat blade screw driver and hammer. I knocked it slowly round
as I couldn't remove it via hand.

Dont use a screwdriver, you will only knock the fins off, use a piece of
wood instead or the tool for the job.

Screws off using two large screwdrivers or a special tool made
for that purpose.
