The missus accidentally put diesel in the XE (4.1) the other day on her way
to work. The car was rescued the following morning after the task of
siphoning the tank to the last drop I could get out was complete (Why
couldn't it have a drain plug!!). Filled with 10 litres of petrol and I let
it sit there idling quite a while occasionally blipping the throttle until
most of the smog was no longer pouring out of the exhaust - at which point
it was carefully driven back home. It was making no more horrible a racket
than it usually does.

Is there anything I need to be particularly concerned about - or check?

Cheers,
-Dave.

It was filled with about 20 litres of diesel, I'd guess about 5-10 Litres of
petrol still in the tank. She made it the entire 20km drive, but by the time
she reached town, the car was blowing smoke heavily and was totally
underpowered. When she parked it was unable to idle, let alone run and was
pretty much parked for the night.

I'll have to disagree with that, unfortunately...

I could be saving allot of money with the amount of cats around this joint.

perhaps pureeing the cats and trying that as an alternative fuel would work
:P
