efi 5l v8 little trick

for those who want a bit of a free power upgrade,

Just plug the hose going from the oil filler to the throttle body. its to
reburn crankcase gases.

for several days now ive been wondering what the hell's been going on with
my car, its never had such good pickup before on pedal to the floor
acceleration, it was starting to scare me, and that was on gas!

I noticed today that my hose was cracked and fell off the throttle body. I
will however be fixing it simply because it looks messy.

Short term benefit; the unburnt blowbuy gases (fuel and other
by-products) will mix with the oil causing premature engine
wear. It not as some think to burn hot oil fumes but the blow
buy gases from the combustion cycle.

what about in the old days before emissions laws? they never had such things
anyway.

Yup they sure didn't. It just vented you outside air or into the aircleaner.

Yes they did in the old days had a vent tube that exhausted the
blow by gases using the effect of air passing at right angles to
the tube opening. The tube ran from the rocker cover to below
the sump so it was at 90 degrees to air flow; my father had one
on his EH Holden but we converted it to a PCV system as he never
went fast enough to get the air flowing by the tube mouth fast
enough to extract the gases.

The old system was also referred to as a "road draft tube."

U need to take care with that,as their is every chance the unburnt gases
will build up and u will start to blow seals,such as crankshaft seals etc
Happened to me (on another car make) when that hose got blocked.Expensive
problem
Its fine to disable the crap Epa setup but it needs to be done properly..and
it can be done.
Interested if anyone knows how to do that properly

could you not just make some kind of ventilator to vent the gasses to the
atmosphere, old v8's just have a filter cap on one head opposite to the oil
filler cap on the other head, or did they still have a breather hose aswell?

I'm estimating its around a 30kw at the rear wheels difference on gas, the
difference is huge. feels more than 98 octane fuel, with 1/4 tank (bugger
all weight) and ticked up ignition timing. didn't try it on petrol I'll
assume the gains with petrol would be much less, since the engines breathing
ability isn't as restricted as with gas.

there is much more of a difference with this than I had by completely
changing the exhaust for a very low restriction one.
