I have a couple of quick questions on the XF.

Why did Ford put that ridiculous bulge in the firewall on the passenger side
making it so bloody difficult to bolt a V8 in ?

On the six, is the EGR pipe supposed to go between the inlet tubes for the
last two cylinders or should it go round the back of the whole inlet
manifold ?

Cheers and Beers,

Becuase they never planned to fit V8's into them :)

Why would you want to?

Regards,
Noddy.

That still doesn't explain the bulge itself.

It is in the right spot, but I didn't think the core and the evap were all
that different from the XE.

The blower-motor housing sits in there. If they can shoe-horn a cleveland in
the XDs and XEs, they'll fit in in an XF especially the smaller Windsor.

All you have to do to get a V8 in is turn the heater core 180 and drill to
holes for the heater core pipes. That'll give you about 1-2" clearance. Not
that hard really.

Thanks for the tip on the heater box. I'm not sure about the 1-2" clearance
though. I'm talking about a 351 clevo and from what I can tell I'll need to
mount it about 2.5" forward of where the mounts are at the moment. It maybe
just a matter of making up a couple of plates for the mounts but it doesn't
seem that easy at the moment.  As for shoe-horning a V8 into an XD / XE,
they don't have the stupid bloody bulge in the firewall.

Slam the bulge with a sledge , but add a couple of 20 mil spacers under
the heater before doing that :_), its simple but a pain , or you can use
a 5 litter windsor and its a better fit. add a scat crank and your ok
if you want the added capacity.

I blokc I know had done a XF clevo conversion. His engine mounts are
standard XD/XE mounts. I've sent you a picture of the XF bay.

Brenden,
I haven't got the photo yet but I am waiting expectantly. I can't seem to
work out how this bloke did it as the numbers aren't adding up in the
Campbell garage. Here's to hoping that i'm wrong.
