Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in owning an ex-taxi or
knows someone that has had one. And how they r condition wise as i have herd
that they go for fairly cheap.

the price of the car corresponds with the cost of repairs...
don`t expect that a EF or EL with 500 odd thousand kays needs nothing spend
on it...
engine , gearbox , suspension , interior parts...  etc  etc...
my opinion , keep clear...

500k and it'd still be on the road, it'd have to be a bucket of sh.t to be
retired that early.
Even so, at 800,000k's keep doubly clear, they are definatly ready for the
crusher after being a taxi.

All the spot welds in the body let go so it feels loose, all the suspension
is worn out and tired, the driveline is totally f.cked and your lucky if the
engine will even start. the interior will be a tired worn out set of vinyl
seats all the door trims will be scratched and worn. holes in the dash
everywhere. holes in the roof etc.

better off getting a privately owned EB or maybe ED for the same money and
it will last you longer.

Never buy unless it sounds and drives OK and is at a very cheap price, like
no more than $1500 tops.

EX Police and Taxi generally have lots of milage with lots of engine indling
time, thats why they go cheap.
