All I can say is to check connections.
I had cut-outs recently on my lpg system, & yes, it is quite dodgy trying to
control a falcon without engine power.
Try to think if there are similar times when yr prob occurs, & maybe find
clues that way.
In my case after doing about 50K's of highway that I'd stall coming off the
highway: it was the lpg vaporiser freezing up as the hot water supply wasn't
getting thru due to a shakey connection.
good luck

If you think about it, the car loses all electrical power ie both alternator
(which is capable of running the car on its own) and battery,..plus the
alt-fail light illuminates tho this is often just a low-volts in electrical
system alarm.
I would check connections too. Try looking at the fusible link and its
connections. This device has to handle all electrical currrent except
starter-motor. In my old '79 Ford, its plug-in connector had lost contact
due chronic heating courtesy of a resistive connection.

Throw a multimeter on the alternator. You should have about 14+ volts. If
you have 12 or less? Your alternators gone.
