EB Falcon Stalling Problems

Hi ALl,

Was hoping someone might be able to help me out here.  My EB Falcon stalls
regualry at lights.  It's be tuned up, had the fan belts replaced.  I have
also taken it to a Auto Sparky how has tested it for error codes.  No error
codes where reported back.   This sparky reckons the computer needs work.  I
seem to think it me be a sensor as (I think it is the IZ sensor) that
controls the idle speed (Falcons idle can't be reset as this is a fcactory
setting) as when you turn a corner, put the lights on or run the air con,
the idle drops and the engine stalls.
I had the trans serviced and this has made some of the idle problems
dissappear (THe trans desperately needed a service)...
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.

Cheers,
Scott-e

6 cylinder motors of that size shouldn't need an 'idle-up' control when the
AC is switched on let alone the lights.

Sounds a bit strange,..I'd make sure the battery connections are clean and
tight. I had a situation where my Camry would stall when I flicked the
headlights on. It was because the battery clamp had come loose and the car
was running on the alternator only. This meant the alternator had to respond
to massive current damands which occurr for an instant as things like cold
filaments in lights and AC clutch inrush current come on. The alternator
would simply bale-out causing an engine stall.

If the engine is running too lean, sudden loads can cause a stall.

Yeah, I too would check the base idle speed.  Had the exact same problem
and stuffed around for ages before trying this and wol-ah.

Aparently it is the base idle setting.  It needs to be reset after the
battery is changed.  I changed my battery some time ago and it hasn't run
correctly since then

Gday Scott,
My brother has the same problem with his EB - Where do you reset the base
idle setting? Also, where is the ISC solenoid? I've tried disconnecting the
battery for half an hour, then reconnecting and putting the air con on in
park and drive, then it off it park and drive, for 2 mins each. (so the
computer re-learns) Seemed to work for a while but has gone back to doing
its thing again!

cheers
Rhys
