It's happened a few times now, when I start up in the morning the
Coolant Temp Warning Light comes on, the temp gauge still hasn't moved
but the light is still on.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might happen, I always thought the
the light worked of the temp gauge.

Thanks in advance

perhaps its warning you there is an open circut going to the coolant
temperature sensor, check that its connected well with a clean tight
fitting.

The float on the side of the coolant reservoir is probably stuffed. That is
usually the problem.

just a thought.

if the high temperature light is coming on when the engine is cold and the
gauge shows it, the instrument cluster needs replacing/repair.

there is a separate light for the low coolant sensor.
