you know, the plastic end caps type namely as used in ef's...

Are they repairable or disposable, mines leaking where the plastic end cap
meets the core, on the top hose side... is this something a shop has to do,
or can it be done at home ?

Disposable if it is cracked. Any decent shop will have a stock of new end
tanks. They get brittle with age and heat. They have used plastic since the
EA BTW - perhaps even earlier.

It can be done at home if you have the right crimping tool, but seeing  how
you're asking about the procedure it'd be safe to assume you don't.

Take it to a radiator shop and they'll fix it for you.

Noddy.
